The Wollemi Pine dates back to the time of the dinosaurs. It was discovered by an avid bush walker while canyoning in deep rainforest gorges, in the Blue Mountains. Wollemi is an Aboriginal word meaning “look around you, keep your eyes open and watch out”.
The scientific name Wollemia Nobilis reflects the pine’s majestic qualities and honours David Noble who found the first trees.
With less than 100 adult trees known to exist in the wild, the Wollemi Pine is now the focus of extensive research.
