This work is inspired by the amazing finding of one simple DNA in the Wollemi Pine. Discovered in Australia in 1994, it is a prehistoric rare plant, with less than 100 adult trees known to exist in the wild. Unique characteristics of this Jurassic pine include the distinctive bubbly chocolate bark, self-coppicing (spontaneously sprouting multiple trunks from its base) and, no genetic variation within or between the populations (one simple DNA). Scientists believe that this may prove that it is possible to have one simple DNA and yet could survive millions of bush fires, the ice age, dinosaurs, and the movement of continents.
